We’re very proud to announce the official launch of 'The Virus and Me', an animation inspired by anonymous research with the Chinese community in Northern Ireland during the COVID-19 pandemic.
'The Virus and Me' premiered on 3rd Nov at the Future Screen NI Narrative Futures Call Launch, with special guests Carál Ní Chuilín, Minister for Communities, Professor Cathy Gormley Heenan, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ulster University and Joan Burney Keatings, CEO of Cinemagic.
We are so grateful to all of the participants who shared their experience of living in Northern Ireland, and how the pandemic has affected their livelihoods and families.
Our hope is that the animation will raise awareness of the Chinese community’s experience of Northern Irish society and encourage conversations around inclusivity, belonging and community.
The project was funded by Future Screens NI and the research was conducted in association with the Chinese Welfare Association in Northern Ireland.
Thank you to Soléne, Ciaran, Elsa, Trisha, May, William and his team at CWA, Alec, Nuala, and all of the participants who shared their stories with us. We are so grateful to you all.
