Working With Me: How Does It Work?

Updated: 7 days ago

Strategy seems to be a buzz word that means so much yet communicates very little. Very simply, it’s looking at where you are, where you want to be and how you’ll get there.

People can often get caught up in keeping their heads above water that it seems ludicrous to just stop, take a step back, and reflect upon what is really going on under their feet. Or things could be going fantastically, but you want to elevate your offering even more.

Collaboration is key to strategic success.

Even the best strategists need to bounce ideas off others and have people hold them accountable. Working with others generates ideas, sparks energy and moves the needle forward - often in directions you may not have thought about. It’s about creating newness, sculpting visions and reaping rewards from your positive work.

So, what is actually involved in working with me? It can often seem complex at the start, but once you break it down it’s rather exciting! Let me take you down the road to strategic success…

Step 1: Getting to know each other

We grab a quick chat to discuss where you’re at, what you’re doing now and where you’d like to be. I’ll ask some questions to help build a vision of your business or project and what you’d like to achieve.

Some example questions are:

  • What’s your digital presence?

  • What are your resources?

  • Do you have a business plan?

Don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers - I’m here to guide you through the process and offer ideas along the way.

Step 2: The proposal

After our chat, I’ll send you a proposal outlining the stages and timelines I recommend in order to achieve your goals. I like to work in stages to make things clear and to encourage a sense of achievement after each phase. I’m all about celebrating the wins! We can work together to tweak the services and timelines within each stage, depending on your budget and resources.

Step 3: Digging a bit deeper

Once the proposal has been accepted and the stages agreed, I’ll send you a tailored worksheet for you to complete to dig a little deeper into your current offering, your goals and targets. For me, this is all about building a picture of what needs to be included in your bespoke strategy, inspiring ideas for tangible actions to move your business or project forward.

Some example questions are:

  • What would you like to be known for?

  • What does success look like for you?

  • Do you have targets and deadlines?

We’ll then jump on another meeting to discuss your answers. This conversation will allow me to begin work on your strategy documents. If relevant, I’ll arrange meetings with people involved in your business or project, to get feedback and ideas to inform the strategy.

Step 4: Producing the strategy

Once the overarching strategy document has been produced and signed off, I supply the final documents for you and your team to work with via Google Drive. I can assign complete ownership of the documents to you, or I can remain part of the collaborative team to help with monitoring and evaluation.

So after stage 1 of the process, you will receive:

  • Overarching strategy document detailing goals, targets, measures of success, deadlines and review dates

  • Monthly review template

  • 3-monthly review meeting template

  • Monthly review chart creation template

  • Timeline of actions, responsibilities and deadlines

And as always, I throw in some ideas and tips along the way!

Step 5: Working through the stages

If you choose to commit to a number of stages, I will create a project plan for us to collaborate on via online project management tool Asana. This means you can see all of the actions needed to push the strategy forward and keep on top of the deadlines we agree upon. I collaborate with other industry experts in graphic design, SEO and web design to offer a range of services for your business or project.

Some example stages are:

  • Design

  • Copywriting for website and social media

  • Website structure

  • SEO

  • Marketing Planning

  • Social Media Planning

Step 6: Monitoring and Evaluation

It’s so important to define measures of success so that you can track your progress and have a celebratory dance as many times as possible! I can be on board for the monitoring and evaluation process as much or as little as you want. No-one likes a pesky spreadsheet but when they provide clarity and leave room for creativity, then they’re your friend!

All of my clients have something in common: they are creative trailblazers with something important to say. When you have a mission in life, then people must hear it! I don't just produce strategies, but build relationships and make visions a reality.

If you'd like to elevate your business or project, drop me a message and I look forward to welcoming you to the tribe of go-getting change makers!
